The Rime of the Ancient Mariner – The first and second parts.

My understanding of this poem is about the Ancient Mariner which I think he is an old sailor and in the poem he is at a wedding. The Mariner is telling the guests interesting story’s. The Mariner explained the story in deep detail. He was in a disastrous storm and he never saw a person or animal until he came across the Albatross, the bird followed the boat through the storm and while it did they had good winds and food. He shot the albatross and it fell into the sea dead and with it went the weather and food. The boat was surrounded by water but they couldn’t drink it because it was salt water.

  1. This is a good summary. What happened once the boat became becalmed, Teddy. Also, when you turn a word into a plural that finishes with a y, like ‘story’, it becomes ‘stories’. The ‘s is for when you want to show possession – It was the scary story’s fault that he couldn’t sleep all night.
